Transformation: From Chemistry to Clay

Christy Conkel tried something new about 2 years ago.

She took a pottery class at the Pike Arts Guild under the direction of Carma Baker which sparked a new passion for clay.  Christy now produces and exhibits her wonderful pieces at the Cream of the Crop  at the Southern Ohio Museum in Portsmouth, The Pump House in Chillicothe, Tolerance II Art Show at the Ohio University and the Pike Arts Guild Jingle Bell Art Show.

We are very lucky to have her exhibit at the Market Arts Center Gallery in July.  She will present her “transformation” program on Tuesday, July 14 at 7:00pm.  She will have a special item for sale.  All proceeds from “Celestial Woman” will be donated to  Women for Women International.  This organization supports those women who are at greatest risk of being forgotten. It supports women in war-torn regions with financial and emotional aid, job-skills training, rights education and small business assistance so they can rebuild their lives. “Celestial Woman” proceeds will sponsor a woman for 6 months at a cost of $27 per month.
To learn more about this organization please go to http://www.womenforwomen.org

Christy’s exhibit WILL be available for your viewing pleasure on Saturday, July 11 during the Waverly Street Festival.  Stop on by and take a look….
